This video provides an overview of the NIKE missile program in the 1950s & 1960s. The video is divided into four parts. Part One opens in 1944 with the V-1 rocket and subsequent development of 90mm gun and electronic system used to counter the German rockets. The film details the development of the NIKE Ajax for conventional aircraft followed by the NIKE Hercules for supersonic aircraft. Part Two is titled "Steel Ring" with scenes of 36th AAA Missile Battalion with Nike guided surface-to-air missile (SAM), as well as the Army's 120mm guns. Part Three focuses on the 75th Antiaircraft Artillery Missile Battalion located in the town of Upper Marlboro, Maryland.
